Aside from everything else - here's a fix for the 3rd party App issue and their ability to pull your phone number... Everything in FB has a specific field #, those bad 3rd party apps pull from a specific field. Remove your numbers and email addresses and anything else you want to protect from the usual boxes and put it in your About box. (This used to populate to what was called your profile box on your sidebar) You'll now find it in the edit section of your profile. Personally, I'm not concerned but i could see how many people would be. Here's my Profile. http://www.facebook.com/MikeMueller?v=info It's open. Snake oil is snake oil and the salespeople selling it are the same today as they were a hundred years ago. Social Media is the new stuff in the bottle that's guaranteed to cure all your ills. "Act now and we'll give two for the price one one!" Are they selling coaching, a product or a service? Better to know what that is before taking their word as gospel. I'm with you on the "been done" aspect but keeping an eye out for new developments. I'll throw out another idea. Just like an original post on my blog starts at AreWeConnected.com, then is shared via the TweetMeMe button, brought into a Facebook Business Page Stream, my own personal FB stream, RSS'd into various Readers, reposted on Posterous, Tumblr and ActiveRain...
