I sincerely doubt that the failure of Google base is any indication of consumer dislike for map based search. What it does say is that Google entered a crowded field and did not innovate fast enough. Moreover, I think most consumers want real estate searches that use the best data (ie MLS data), and not the incomplete syndicated listing data, though few consumers understand this distinction. -Milan Cole, http://www.jmaproperties.com

This is not a sustainable model. They are not offering enough growth nor innovation to justify losing money at that rate. I would guess that they will be acquired or call it quits in the next year or so. Milan Cole Portland Real Estate
