WordPress has definitely made it more affordable for agents to ROCK a professional site that meets their goals. And I would agree...you should shop around, get references and quotes. Building a site using WP can be fairly inexpensive as compared to your other options (that usually don't have the flexibility, community, and SEO love you'll find with WP)...it really goes back to YOUR NEEDS and GOALS and what you hope to deliver to your audience. Some agents getting started with WP often think they need all the bells and whistles...but could actually do well with just a few key features (IDX integration, community, share controls, etc). So my advice usually comes back to starting with a plan...so that you can know what you really need and ROCK IT accordingly!

Love it Gahlord! I too am a fan of the "Tweet Plan"! Twitter doesn't have to consume your day (although it can be fun). When it comes to business, I think of scheduled tweets as "drip tweeting". But this marketing plan is not just a plan but a community, so you still need to engage spontaneously and keep the conversation flowing. One other helpful suggestion for sharing your links (aka: resources)would be to track your them using budurl or bit.ly. Nothing like finding a resource, making it trackable, tweeting it, and then measuring the results!

The what and where of social networking is key! If you focus on becoming your clients (network) trusted adviser then you need balance business and personal delicately when sharing online. Share valuable resources with your local market: market updates, local events & news, neighborhood stats, seasonal homeowner tips, etc. But we can't REALLY get to know you if you don't compliment the "resources" you share with PERSONALITY!!! When it comes to Twitter, you can tweet a combo of both throughout the day to achieve a more balanced profile. But on Facebook you need to be more careful when sharing BIZ on your personal profile. Instead, stick to fun stuff and occasional events and advice related to your BIZ. Consider creating a Facebook Page or Group centered around your BIZ, allowing people to opt in by becoming a fan or joining your group. Then you can target what you share....and actually reach the people that care about what you're sharing.
