  • LOL...my profile does NOT

LOL...my profile does NOT read "texting" technology business (that even sounds weird.) Please tell me you took a screen shot if you saw that. Even I want to see. It does however include "Muti-Channel Lead Generation Solutions /Research & Metrics" Full Disclosure: I'm the Co-Founder an Internet Company who loves to test, test, test. We've developed a more effective way for agents to do lead generation by exploring research on buyers and sellers and putting it to the test. :) I've been helping brokerages for years now with their marketing. But no, I'm not a Broker. Nor do I need to be one. I've lent my ears to the collective experiences of many brokers over the years to understand the common underlying issues. As the saying goes,"A doctor doesn't need to personally experience breast cancer to know how to treat it." As for texting, it's a great tool, however a tool that is not being exploited to its fullest in the industry. As someone who loves numbers and loves to test. It has superior advantages over QR codes. And as someone whose job is to look for the best in "what works" I can only say that "texting" is king according to studies and tests.

  • Barrett, No, I'm not talking
    By Raphael TompkinsJanuary 5, 2012 - 9:37am

Barrett, No, I'm not talking about the world market on phones. I'm talking U.S. market. What we in the industry have to realize is that "texting/sms" is the most used application on both feature phones and smartphones alike. Period. Research it :) Yes, today's qualified home buyers are among the 40M increasingly adopting smartphones. A 2011 NAR profile study confirms this by stating age 30 as the medium home buying age, however, agents serve more than just buyers. There are shortsellers and regular sellers who need servicing. You have people like, Jane Doe, 57, who has been in their home for 20 years and don't have a smartphone nor feel the need to upgrade. But I bet you she's got a text photo of her grand kids. Texting is universal across all demographics. Remember texting has surpassed voice among the young-adults and is neck and neck for adults. Also, I never expressed "texting" as the only way to capture client information. Texting alone is NOT a standalone solution. Most are familiar with optin pages,800# IVRs and Star-Star numbers. And lastly, I'm not sure your personal case is a model example when it comes to knowing more about tech then your college aged children. Question the average 50 year old and they'll more then likely share that their children know more.

  • Sorry however most agents

Sorry however most agents are starting to disagree with you on QR Codes! Here's the problem the industry is having with them: ------------------------ 1) They require smartphones which are only 1/3 of all U.S. phone in the market. Meaning the majority of people will not see your listing 2) QR Codes have a consumer reach of only 40M. Texting, however, has over 5x the consumer reach at 230M and works on all phones. 3) They CAN’T capture call back numbers on engagement. What good is it to know someone visited your listing via a QR code and not be able to follow up. 4) Third Party QR App readers usually feature ads that compete for attention with your landing page. Meaning the user experience is not accurately measurable and weakened. 5) CNN News even says "they are NOT catching on": http://goo.gl/4F2HV 6) Smartphone growth does NOT equal growth in QR code usage. Archrival Research discovered this about college students (hint, we're talking about the tech generation): 81% of students owned a smartphone 80% of students had previously seen a QR code 21% of students successfully scanned our QR code example. 75% of students said they are “Not Likely” to scan a QR code in the future.
