Robert Bruss

Nationally syndicated real estate columnist Robert "Bob" Bruss, who passed away on Sept. 26, 2007, for 23 years wrote the weekly syndicated "Real Estate Mailbag" Q&A real estate column, the "Real Estate Notebook" feature on real estate trends, "Real Estate Law and You" about recent court decisions affecting real estate and "Real Estate Book Review" features.
As a tribute to Bruss, Inman News is republishing some of his work -- which still holds true today -- in an ongoing "Best of Bob Bruss" series.

Sometimes called the "Dear Abby of real estate," Bruss published two monthly newsletters, the "Robert Bruss Real Estate Law Newsletter and the Robert Bruss National Real Estate Newsletter." He authored "The Smart Investor's Guide to Real Estate," "The California Foreclosure Book -- How to Earn Big Profits From California Foreclosure and Distressed Properties," and co-authored with Dr. William Pivar an edition of the textbook "California Real Estate Law."

Bruss received his law degree from the University of California's Hastings College of Law in San Francisco.

He was a California Real Estate attorney and a real estate broker as well as a former director of the National Association of Real Estate Editors. NAREE's annual Robert Bruss Real Estate Book Awards recognizes his contributions to the industry.
