I agree that there are passionate views on these topics. It is great to have an industry that is engaged in discussion the path to the future. As for the undercurrent of brokers looking to leave the MLS - that is nonsense. I am sure that they want to modify it - but no serious brokerage would leave the MLS today unless it is a small, irrelevant MLS. It would be suicide. As for consumers not seeing value in agents - again, I must disagree. FSBO is at its lowest level in years, and agents are showing more value in todays distressed market by handling complex transactions. I agree that agents need to justify their value - as they always have done - but I do not agree that agents don't have value in the consumer's eye. Otherwise, great article Bernice! I respect you a lot - but even friends will disagree from time to time :-) - NO INFIGHTING! Victor Lund Partner WAV Group http://waves.wavgroup.com http://www.wavgroup.com
Just a point of clarification. Tucson Area Regional MLS does not have a syndication field in their FBS MLS system (although it could be easily implemented - there is a reason they call the FBS system FLEX). Long Realty does all of their listing syndication themselves, and they enter the contact information at the broker level. If I am not mistaken, it is injected programmatically.
