Leon d’Ancona President IMS Incorporated

In 1985, Leon d’Ancona started out by renovating homes in an unstable real estate market. The idea was to renovate quickly and sell quickly. He found that if it took longer than 78 days to sell, he would lose money. He suspected that there was predictability in the housing market. Using available data, Leon developed algorithms to predict short-term market trends and frequency distribution charts to find out which part of the real estate market was moving. Using this detailed information he was able to choose the right professionals who knew how to market homes and bring buyers. Armed with these and many other real estate statistics, his business made money. 20 years later IMS Incorporated, the company that resulted from Leon’s insight, is North America’s #1 real estate statistics provider and now offers stats online with REality™. IMS has established ongoing relationships with firms such as: Century 21, GMAC, Coldwell Banker, ERA, Prudential and Keller Williams. Re/Max Corporate offices awarded IMS Incorporated the largest statistical information contract in their history.
