MLS attorney returns to private practice

Attorney Brian Larson has resigned his position with a real estate data licensing venture to resume his private law practice.
Larson is a noted national expert, speaker and strategic advisor on MLS issues, including the contentious virtual office Web site (VOW) rules and policies.
Larsen suspended his law practice in July 2003 to become VP of industry relations and legal affairs for REBIG, a Chicago-based venture that helps MLSs negotiate data licensing deals.
"The role I played in the industry as lawyer and confidential advisor was the right role for me, so I have decided to return to it. I enjoyed my time with REBIG and I learned a great deal, but ultimately the kind of work I have done there was not as fulfilling for me as the work that I left behind," Larson said.
Larson will continue to advise MLSs on such issues as rules and regulations, Internet data exchange (IDX), broker reciprocity, VOWs, data misuse disputes, MLS vendor contract negotiations, data licensing and other related matters. He also is launching a package of services for MLSs that want to register the copyright of their MLS databases.
