Real estate confab to explore loan packaging
RESPA reform up for debate at annual conference in D.C.

LendingTree Founder and CEO Doug Lebda will be one housing industry leader to talk about how mortgage loan packaging will change the home-buying and financing marketplace at the Real Estate Services Providers Council's (RESPRO) annual conference next month.
The conference, slated for March 24-26 in Washington, D.C., will focus on the Department of Housing and Urban Development's final regulation to overhaul the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA).
HUD in December sent a final rule to the Office of Management and Budget for review. HUD's proposal would revamp the good faith estimate lenders use to disclose costs to borrowers and facilitate packaging of loan origination and settlement service fees into one or two lump sums.
Ron Peltier, CEO of Home Services of America, at the conference will share how the second largest real estate brokerage firm in the nation has structured its business model to provide packaged real estate services.
Other speakers scheduled to discuss packaging include Fran Azur, president of ATM Corp. and Joe Reppert, vice chairman of First American Real Estate Information Services.
Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) will also speak.
RESPRO is a national, non-profit trade association of real estate broker-owners, real estate franchisers, mortgage lenders, title insurers and agencies, home builders, technology companies, and home service providers. The group aims to promote the efforts of all providers to deliver convenient, innovative and cost-effective services to consumers through strategic alliances across industry lines.
