Healthcare co. expands in Chicago suburb

CarrAmerica Realty Corp. recently announced the renewal and expansion of anchor tenant Fujisawa Healthcare Inc. for 215,000 square feet of office space in Three Parkway North in Deerfield, Ill.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Fujisawa will merge with Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd to form Astellas Pharma Inc., one of Japan's largest pharmaceutical companies

Owned by a joint venture between CarrAmerica and New York State Teachers' Retirement System, Three Parkway North is located in Parkway North Center, an 80-acre office complex situated at I-94 and Deerfield Road in southern Lake County. The property is comprised of six existing office buildings and one building site. Park amenities include parking, staffed security, a Marriott Suites Hotel, dining and catering facilities, a health club and a childcare center.

Scott Brandwein of CBRE represented Fujisawa in this transaction. CarrAmerica's Jerry O'Malley represented CarrAmerica and New York State Teachers' Retirement System in the transaction.

CarrAmerica owns, develops and operates office properties in 12 markets throughout the United States.
