HarmonHomes.com today announced that more property searches were performed for New York listings than for any other state this year.
More than 1 million HarmonHomes.com visitors searched for a home in New York in 2004, the company reported. The next state with the most searches was California, with 614,833.
Rounding out the 2004 top 10 most-searched states on HarmonHomes.com were (in this order) Pennsylvania, Florida, New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, Virginia, Georgia and Maryland.
In a survey taken by AmericanHomeGuides.com, 45 percent of home buyers reportedly spent between one and three hours per week searching online for a new home. Nearly 14 percent of home buyers exceed six hours a week, with some searches lasting more than 10 hours.
Recently partnered with Homes.com, HarmonHomes.com expects the number of searches in each state to increase after the first of the year.
Norfolk, Va.-based HarmonHomes.com, a division of Trader Publishing Co., is a provider of online real estate classified ads.
