Chip maker buys Idaho facility

Representing ZiLOG Inc., Binswanger negotiated the sale of a one-story, 160,455-square-foot semiconductor wafer fabrication facility with acreage in Nampa, Idaho.

The sale price was not disclosed.

The property is located at 1401 North Kings Road.

Micron Technology Inc., a memory chip producer, purchased the facility. The company plans to re-establish semiconductor wafer fabrication operations on the property, which includes approximately 24 acres of surplus land for future expansion.

"As an Idaho-based company, Micron Technology was the logical buyer," said Eric Dienstbach, senior vice president of Binswanger. "It was a matter of timing and their immediate need to start a specific product line."

Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., ZiLOG consolidated its Idaho wafer fabrication production into other operations overseas, closing the Nampa facility 20 months ago. The company makes a variety of integrated circuits, including embedded processors and microcontrollers that are used in consumer electronics, among other things.

Philadelphia-based Binswanger is an international full-service real estate organization with offices worldwide.
