Overnight real estate rates hold steady
30-year fixed rate at 6.31%; 10-year Treasury yield at 5.07%
By Inman News, Tuesday, July 18, 2006.Long-term mortgage interest rates held steady Monday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield inched up to 5.07 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average was unchanged at 6.31 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate decreased slightly to 6.01 percent. The 1-year adjustable also fell slightly to 5.46 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield was unchanged at 5.11 percent.
Rates are current as of 7:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 8.01 points, or 0.07 percent, finishing at 10,747.36. The Nasdaq was up 0.37 points, or 0.02 percent, closing at 2,037.72.
