Overnight real estate rates stand pat
30-year fixed rate at 5.94%; 10-year Treasury yield at 4.79%
By Inman News, Monday, September 18, 2006.Long-term mortgage interest rates were mostly unchanged Friday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield remained at 4.79 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average remained at 5.94 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate rose to 5.65 percent. The 1-year adjustable was down at 5.32 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield decreased to 4.91 percent.
Rates are current as of 7:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 33.38 points, or 0.29 percent, finishing at 11,560.77. The Nasdaq was up 6.86 points, or 0.31 percent, closing at 2,235.59.
