Overnight real estate rates idle
30-year fixed rate at 5.68%; 10-year Treasury yield at 4.59%
By Inman News, Wednesday, December 20, 2006.Long-term mortgage interest rates were mostly flat Tuesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield inched up to 4.59 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average stayed at 5.68 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate gained slightly to 5.44 percent. The 1-year adjustable was down at 5.31 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield increased to 4.72 percent.
Rates are current as of 7:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 30.05 points, or 0.24 percent, finishing at 12,471.32. The Nasdaq was down 6.02 points, or 0.25 percent, closing at 2,429.55.
