BJ's Wholesale to lease space, build store
Occupancy expected after summer
By Inman News, Thursday, March 8, 2007.Urstadt Biddle Properties Inc. signed BJ's Wholesale Club to a long-term lease for approximately 107,000 square feet at The Dock Shopping Center in Stratford, Conn.
The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
BJ's will build a new store in the approximate location of the former Bradlees department store. Demolition will begin in the spring with the new store expected to open in the fall of 2007. BJ's plans to operate a typical warehouse club concept at the location.
Other tenants at the shopping center include Staples, Petco and KB Toys.
Urstadt Biddle Properties Inc. is a real estate investment trust that owns 38 properties containing approximately 3.8 million square feet of space.
