MLSAlliance gains new member in Northern California

A Realtor group in the San Francisco Bay Area announced this week that it has signed an agreement to join the California MLSAlliance, a data-sharing effort with 11 other MLS organizations in California.

The MLSAlliance system, launched last month, is available to about 165,000 brokers and agents from 47 local real estate associations in the state. The platform provides access to about 2.5 million active listings and off-market properties from the 12 participating MLSs, according to an announcement this week.

Other MLS participants include: Bay Area Real Estate Information Services Inc., Bay East Association of Realtors, Combined L.A./Westside MLS, CRISNet Regional MLS, East Bay Regional Data, Greater South Bay Regional MLS, iTech MLS, MetroList Services, Multi-Regional MLS, San Francisco Association of Realtors, and Southern California MLS. ENeighborhoods is the technology provider for the system.

The Contra Costa Association of Realtors has also been involved in an MLS consolidation effort known as the Northern California Real Estate Exchange, or NCREX.

Clark Anderson, president of the Contra Costa Association of Realtors, said the group is still in discussions to join with NCREX, which already has joined two MLSs, and that participation in the MLSAlliance won't affect those discussions.

"Participation in the MLSAlliance will allow our members to continue offering seamless service to their clients even if they are moving here from another area of the state, or relocating out of the Bay Area," Anderson said in a statement. Access to the MLSAlliance system is expected by early October for Contra Costa Association of Realtors members.

In addition to the MLSAlliance and NCREX efforts, the statewide California Association of Realtors group is considering plans to form a statewide MLS property information database or to create a statewide MLS.
