Move, MSN renew exclusive content agreement
MSN Real Estate directs home searches to Move Inc. sites
By Inman News, Wednesday, December 5, 2007.Realtor.com operator Move Inc. has updated a content distribution agreement with MSN that links users of the MSN Real Estate site to Move's property-search sites.
The exclusive three-year content distribution agreement provides that MSN and Move will "continue joint exploration efforts to develop new search tools to improve the consumer experience and access to listing data on the Move network of Web sites," according to a company announcement today.
The new deal updates a 2003 agreement between MSN and Move, which was known then as Homestore. Move uses Microsoft's Virtual Earth mapping technology at its property-search sites.
MSN users can begin a search for active resale homes, new homes and rentals at the MSN Real Estate Site, and are then directed to Move Inc. sites including Realtor.com and Move.com. MSN Real Estate also directs searches of real estate foreclosure properties to RealtyTrac.com, a foreclosure data provider that is not affiliated with Move.
"Move is pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with MSN," said Lorna Borenstein, Move Inc. president, in a statement.
Homestore announced the original content deal with MSN in January 2004, and the integration of Realtor.com with the MSN site was completed in March 2004.
