William Blair signs lease for new headquarters

William Blair & Co. will occupy more than 340,000 square feet in downtown Chicago once the River Point office tower is completed, a press statement announced.

William Blair CEO John R. Ettelson recently signed a lease to relocate the investment firm's headquarters to the 52-story, 1.1-million-square-foot building, which is expected to be completed by mid-2011.

The company is making the move due to business expansion and steady growth. In 1994, when the firm moved to its present location on West Adams Street, there were 555 employees and revenues of $166 million. At the end of 2007, William Blair had more than 975 employees and revenues approaching $700 million, a firm record, according to a press statement.

Groundbreaking on the project is scheduled for late 2008.
