Coldwell Banker puts property listings on wheels
Internet-connected GPS to feature franchise network's data feed

Coldwell Banker is putting its property listings on wheels through a partnership with a company that sells Internet-connected GPS devices.
Users of Dash Express, which accesses the Internet through both cellular networks and wi-fi radios, can view updated for-sale property listings using the device and get driving directions to the homes.
Coldwell Banker is now the exclusive real estate listings source to Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Dash Navigation, the maker of Dash Express.
"Mobile devices continue to be an evolving medium with great application to the home buying and selling process," said Michael Fischer, senior vice president of marketing for Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC, in a statement. "Consumers also want real-time real estate information when they're on the road, and the in-car experience is a natural progression to deliver content with the broad adoption of GPS usage."
The property information feed allows consumers to search for nearby Coldwell Banker property listings and to view property listings on a map.
The Dash partnership is the latest in a series of marketing agreements to push Coldwell Banker property listings out to a variety of sources. The company also feeds listings to Web sites including Google, Yahoo and Trulia, among others.
"Dash drivers have been asking for real estate listings on Dash Express since our beta trial period," said Chris Butler, content development evangelist for Dash.
Users of Dash Express can choose to add the Coldwell Banker listings feed to their device by accessing the company's MyDash Web site. The Dash Express service ranges from about $10 per month to $13 per month, while the hardware is about $400.

Is this considered to be a brilliant innovation or another ancillary expense?

hmmmm...only problem I see with that is, that today's homebuyers are smart enough to know that they don't only want to see one broker's listings. If only Coldwell Banker listings are on the GPS, what good will that do?

I agree completely Kim. That is our theory behind the entire real estate listings model is that users don't only want to see one type of listing (just Realtor listings), but they want to see foreclosures, fsbo's, etc.
We are well on our way to building this database over at http://www.beatyouthere.com
