RE/MAX system surpasses 5 million leads

Real estate technology brief

Inman News®

Real estate franchise company RE/MAX International reported that the company's online lead management system, called LeadStreet, has passed along over 5 million leads to RE/MAX associates through its remax.com Web site.

The system allows agents to receive leads on mobile e-mail-capable devices. About 2.8 million unique visitors go to the company's Web site each month, RE/MAX reported. ReMax.com ranked fourth in July among real estate sites ranked by Internet metrics company Hitwise.com (see related report).

Numbers are great. Just curious if they would post the conversion rates?

We do not report conversions to RE/MAX so it wouldn't be possible for them to report those numbers. The majority of my leads are qualified buyers. My conversion rate isn't as good as it could be because I'm not working them as well as I should be. It really is a great system that I have been very successful with.

Hah,

I know several people who never correctly sign into those programs. I am sure that 500k of those leads are "Jon Doe"

I am a RE/MAX agent and I just sold a home to "Ben Dover".
Ben was a lead from RE/MAX.com :)
I am also now working with another person whose name is "Ima Lead".
(it's a JOKE people!)

I really wish real estate companies would stop presenting this kind of information in their marketing. It's wholly irrelevant and consumers know it. It's not a benchmark of "performance" other than to say their website generated a lot of emails to their agents. If they can't tell us what percentage they converted, what the dollar value was, how it made their agents' careers more successful than had they been with another company or how it helped sellers achieve their goals, then releasing a number - mostly because it is large - should be avoided. It doesn't matter if it was RE/MAX today or someone else tomorrow. Let's start telling the public what they want to know: Your company achieved the desired results - your home sold, your dream home bought - and not just "we have more, more, more!" Even agents understand that "more" stuff doesn't necessarily mean a result for their careers.

On the other hand, I love these headlines because they make writing my gadfly blog so much easier! Check it out! www.matthewferrara.com Today's entry: More Meaningless Marketing!

You neglected to tell us how long it took for RE/MAX to get those 5 million years - 1 day? 1 month? 1 year? 5 years? 7 years? I betting it took a lot longer than everyone thinks.
