California brokerage joins BH&G Real Estate

San Jose, Calif.-based Ventura Barnett Properties has signed a long-term franchise agreement with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate LLC to operate its two-office residential real estate brokerage firm as Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Ventura Barnett Properties.

According to a joint announcement, Ventura Barnett will be the first brokerage in California to use the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate brand name.

Ventura Barnett Properties comprises 145 sales agents who operate primarily in the Santa Clara County area of Silicon Valley.

The company's property listings will be marketed through BHGrealestate.com.

Oh, I don't know... With Realogy having financial difficulties, and the public realizing that the "license mills" are using part of the agents commissions to pay a big corporate out of state giant, rather than abide by the adage "all real estate is local" it seems the public wants the expertise that local brokerages seem to have. It should be interesting to see how this revitalized brand works in the bay area.
Don't forget, the franchise customer is the agent, not the home seller / buyer.
I predict franchises may do LESS business in the coming years, as indies capitalize on all the free advertising via the internet. The franchises used to run ads in the papers--a dead medium--that no one could read, and look successful. Long term contracts may pull them down.
