HotPads updates iPhone real estate app
Company redesigns user interface, adds filters
By Inman News, Wednesday, March 9, 2011.Real estate search site HotPads.com has launched a new version of its mobile application for the Apple iPhone, the company announced today.
The app originally rolled out in January 2010, after the launch of the company's app for smart phones running Google's Android platform. The second incarnation of the iPhone app includes more search filters and a redesigned user interface that allows users to search directly from its map view.
HotPads allows users to search more than 500,000 homes for rent and 3.5 million homes for sale on its site. Users can search for apartments, vacation rentals, for-sale homes, and hotels near their current location or near an address they plug in.
They can filter for-sale listings to include new homes, foreclosures or homes being auctioned. Other filters include price range, number of bedrooms, keywords, minimum number of photos, and whether or not listings include a price. A new feature for the app is the ability to narrow results based on how long ago a particular listing was created.
The results appear in map view, but can also appear in list view. Once in list view, users can sort listings by factors such as recently updated, lowest price, most photos, price per square foot, and distance.
Users can see property descriptions and photos and share them via e-mail or Facebook, or call the listing agent with one touch. Users can also mark listings as favorites and save searches.
