Re: 'End of a real estate era' (Aug. 21)

Dear Editor:

Bravo! It is time! No grieving here. I'll be thrilled with the "after"! Move them out ... no tears for those who think it's easy and have no knowledge base or customer concern; their only abilities include taking the "order" and calculating the commission. Take with them the unlicensed lenders, the two-hat real estate/lender brokers and those on Wall Street who dream up ways of betting on the market. Bring on 2.0 so the true survivors can embrace the enlightened market for their clients and themselves.

Dear Editor:

Thank you, Marc, for your insightful overview and concerns on real estate's future. Even though the industry has some tough times ahead, "This can be a time of quiet celebration." Your points are quite noteworthy.

The fallout from the many reckless practices of recent years has been devastating to so many lives. In the aftermath, I hope the public celebrates change and demands higher service standards based on honesty, integrity and humility throughout this bruised and embarrassed industry.
