Re: 'Don't forget to ask the customer' (Sept. 11)
Dear Editor:
As a broker/owner in the real estate arena, I continue to be amazed with the closed-minded approach of "critics," as you have so kindly referred to in your article. I appreciate your real-world, real-consumer opinion, and find it a refreshing reminder to all of us that as the consumer becomes more educated we as Realtors must as well.
As our economy continues to adjust in these changing times, it is now more than ever that members of our great association must rise to a level of professionalism required to guide consumers through the turmoil. While the vast majority of our members are very capable professionals, it takes only one or two to cause a never-ending effect on our entire industry.
In the end, it is the consumer that matters; it is our clients that we must protect. That is exactly what our Code of Ethics insures, and is the reason why I thank you for this article. I am going to share it with as many members as I can and ensure the positive message in this reminder is heard, even if we are only a small ripple in the U.S. market here in North Dakota. It takes only a ripple to create a wave, and it's still warm enough in this part of the country to get that wave started.
