'If it weren't for Bob, I wouldn't have bought my first house'

Re: 'Industry mourns loss of Robert Bruss' (Sept. 26)
Dear Editor:
Bob Bruss was a brilliant, humble man who always made time to mentor and encourage others. Although he was usually the smartest and best-informed person on the press bus or at the industry conference, he never flaunted it. Instead, he was always asking others for their opinions; he never stopped listening and learning.
Through his column, he was a godsend to countless consumers, and he gave great advice one-on-one, too. If it weren't for Bob, I wouldn't have bought my first house through a lease-option or invested in a beach house.
I cherish his memory.

Dear Editor:
I was shocked and saddened by the news of Bob Bruss passing. I regularly read his columns and contacted him, using his wisdom and information in training sessions and on my own radio program. While we never spoke directly, my e-mails were always responded to.
Clearly the real estate community is losing a great leader and champion of the right from wrong in this industry.

Dear Editor:
I truly respected his opinions and the advice that he wrote. Each day I looked forward to reading his many excellent articles. Good job, good and faithful servant. May you rest in peace.

Dear Editor:
First and foremost, I would like to extend my sympathies to the family of Robert Bruss; they can rest assured that his place in now in heaven.
Although I did not know him personally, I truly felt I did. I purchased some of his topics that were of particular interest to me, and I subscribed to his weekly realty update. Some topics did not pertain to my situation, but I read them anyway, which contributed to and extended my knowledge of the real estate market. The result: He educated an average home buyer with information and knowledge that rivaled most so-called professionals in the business who care only about making a profit from unaware clients.
I am truly grateful and fortunate to have found, adhered to and applied the principals of a true and honest professional.

Dear Editor:
Oh no! Bob Bruss gone!
He was one of the first ... and finest ... real estate experts I ever followed. I've heard Bob speak many times over past decades, and knew that his opinions were always thoughtful, intelligent and helpful.
It was a pleasure to listen to him and an honor to speak or be on a panel with him. Bob always had a big smile and a cheerful hello -- and you always knew he was interested in what you had to say.
We owe Bob our thanks and appreciation. We've often put Bob's advice to good use as homeowners, real estate investors (who profitably did several lease-options!) and Realtors.
Little did we know that when we saw Bob last year -- having an interesting conversation, chewing on hot dogs, and listening to live Tango music -- it would be the last time.
We'll miss you Bob!
With gratitude and respect,

Dear Editor:
We first met Bob about 25 years ago when we invited him to speak to members of our local Realtor association. We struck up a lasting friendship and looked forward to getting "caught up" at the annual NAR conventions. Bob loved real estate and practiced what he preached. He bought lots of it. His articles and columns reassured consumers to embrace the American Dream of home ownership. His advice was thoughtful, accurate and fair. We will miss our friend.
