Canada's public MLS hard to beat

Dear Editor:
As a member of our board's MLS committee in Victoria, British Columbia, and an associate broker with 35 years in this industry, I can say the public and our industry as a whole are best served with a public Web site.
In Canada we have a national MLS site managed by CREA, our national professional body; every board uploads its MLS listings daily, and the public has them on their side on the public site to view 24/7.
We generate a lot of traffic with the public viewing our listings 24/7; we have an option to include the address and it's usually a seller's choice. It's a good tool. I also have two professional Web sites with other features our MLS site does not offer plus I blog on several blogging sites, including three of my own.
The public MLS site known as www.mls.ca is just part of the many tools I have to use to sell real estate, and it offers a chance for all Realtors to network their listings using the MLS system locally, nationally and internationally.
It certainly gives the public huge exposure for their homes, and gives home buyers an easy tool to find a home 24/7. Support your boards and go national ASAP.
