Real estate data should be available to all
Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor:
I'm not sure of the advantages to Realtors from the Gateway project.
What Realtors need, in my opinion, are more tools with which to professionally reach and serve the public, their potential customers and clients.
The public is interested in easy access to detailed property information. In short, they want access to information that is at least as good as our proprietary MLS data.
With the mobility in the U.S., there isn't any reason why the data shouldn't be national and available to all. Those of us in the real estate profession, especially professional buyer agents, have known that this is inevitable for some time.
The only questions are: Who will deliver it and when? My hope for the sake of our professional status is that Realtors control their real estate data!
