3 reasons to reconsider an open house
Letter to the Editor
By Inman News, Friday, October 8, 2010.Re: 'Winning "open house" strategies' (Sept. 27)
Dear Editor:
Three things I learned from this article:
1. "A public open house isn't the best way for buyers to see listings."
2. Open houses risk "overexposing the property."
3. They give buyers "an opportunity to look without having to wait to make an appointment with their agent."

I agree with Jim Bilbao, Windermere Real Estate and I would add "Agent Safety" There were two murders and a robbery at open houses in Ohio and we have had several robberies in our area in recent weeks. We should rethink open houses as a marketing tool.
As Jim said, "it gives buyers an opportunity to look without having to wait to make an appointment with their agent".
This would benefit our professional image as well.
