Those aren't my candidates

By Inman News, Tuesday, November 2, 2010.Re: 'NAR backing incumbents in tight races' (Nov. 1)
Dear Editor:
(I'm) extremely disappointed to hear my NAR dues are paying to fund incumbents' campaigns this election. Please do not expect ME to pay NAR dues again.

I thought I was the only one who felt that way! Good for you.

Well, I'm not sure why some folks feel that way.
--In 2008 we were losing over 300,000 private sector jobs per month. In 2010 we GAINED over 95,000 jobs per month.
--On 9/1/08 (representing the final Bush administration budget) the deficit was over 1.4 trillion dollars. In fiscal year 2010 (the first budget of the Obama administration) the deficit was UNDER 1.3 trillion.
--On the final day of the Bush administration the DJIA was under 8000. Now it is over 11,000.
It sounds to me like the current administration was doing just fine in spite of significant opposition. The problem with the incumbents is they got pulled into trying to defend themselves against a bunch of red herrings and never did present their case -- not that certain factions count facts anyway.

I thought it was abundantly clear that NAR supported candidates who understood real estate related issues - and funded both democrats and republicans. A trade association has to pursue a non-partisan agenda in order to keep the focus on the larger objective - not one member's personal politics.

We as a country need to move forward, people elected should live and act like Americans first, the party be damned. That is why we should have a whole new group of elected members, because so far the word compromise does not seem to be a capability of any of the existing members. Compromise is not spelled "Winning" it is giving and getting.
That is why Laura's comments are appropriate
