Startups eager to prove their mettle, real estate’s notables, and techies from Silicon Valley and beyond converged to share all things tech-related in the real estate industry at the 14th annual Inman News Real Estate Connect conference, held July 13-15, 2010, in San Francisco.
The conference included a range of workshops, from the “Digital Marketing Bootcamp” to the “Broker Summit” and the “Connect Tech” geek-fest. This report also includes news stories from Agent Reboot, a one-day business tuneup for real estate professionals that made its debut in San Francisco prior to the Connect conference. A series of other Agent Reboot events are planned across through country through October.
Among the featured speakers during the three-day event: Alex Perriello, president and CEO for the Realogy Franchise Group; social media and customer service guru Wendy Lea, CEO of Get Satisfaction; Reddit.com co-founder Alexis Ohanion, who talked about “How to Make a Splash in Social Media”; Gary Flake, founder of Microsoft Live Labs; Wall Street Journal tech columnist Kara Swisher; Realtor.com’s Errol Samuelson; Craigslist founder Craig Newmark; and SimpleGeo’s Matt Galligan.
Winners of the 2010 Inman News Innovator Awards, which recognize company and individual innovators, were announced during the conference. Award recipients included: Austin, Texas-based brokerage The GoodLife Team, ZipRealty for its augmented reality HomeScan tool, and the National Association of Realtors’ CEO Dale Stinton and Better Homes and Garden Real Estate LLC CEO Sherry Chris, among others.
