A Fannie Mae underwriting support specialist is one of seven people indicted for their alleged involvement in an identity theft scheme that was active from October 2009 to July 2013.
Katrina Thomas, 40, of Garland, Texas, is accused of stealing the personal information of approximately 1,100 Fannie Mae customers and selling or providing it to two other defendants in the case, knowing that the information would be used to commit bank fraud, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said the defendants stole the identities of Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase account holders and used this information to fraudulently access funds contained in their bank accounts, and created false identities using the stolen personal identifying information. Source: fhfaoig.gov.
