As professionals and their families ditch “the stratospheric prices and stuffy attitudes” of Manhattan and Brooklyn for Jersey City, developers “are getting hip to the need for cutting-edge buildings to suit newcomers’ demanding tastes,” the New York Daily News’ Matt Chaban reports.
Chaban says Ironstate Development’s David Barry “is among the hardest-working developers” trying to help Jersey City “cast off its stigma” as a place to pass through on the way to Manhattan.
Ironstate’s 422-unit 18 Park project, designed by architect Marc Kushner’s firm, HWKN, is a “daring building” with “simple punched windows … grouped together in abstract bands” that give the building “a pixilated look that is distinctly 21st century,” Chaban writes. Source: nydailynews.com.
