The nearly 10,000-member Greater Montreal Real Estate Board has rejoined the Canadian Real Estate Association after an “Internet consultation” with members last week showed support for the move, REMonline reported.
The trade group voted to leave CREA in December in a huff over flat-fee listings. The decision to rejoin means that Montreal brokers’ listings will continue to appear on realtor.ca.
As part of a deal to woo back the board, CREA is removing Quebec listings posted by flat-fee brokers outside of Quebec from realtor.ca, a move that prompted some complaints of industry protectionism from for-sale-by-owner sellers in the province.
CREA will also propose that Quebec member dues be reduced to $225 in 2014 at an industry meeting in March.
