Mortgage lenders originated an estimated $502 billion in loans in the second quarter, up 2 percent from the first quarter and 8 percent from second-quarter 2012, according to Mortgage Daily’s Mortgage Lender Ranking.
Wells Fargo remained the biggest residential lender nationwide, originating 22 percent of mortgages — a combined total $112 billion — last quarter, followed by JPMorgan Chase ($49.5 billion), Bank of America ($26.8 billion), Quicken Loans ($23.8 billion), and U.S. Bank ($19.1 billion).
Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America, Ocwen and Citigroup were the nation’s biggest mortgage servicers by portfolio size last quarter.
