Dave and Gail Liniger, co-founders of the real estate franchise giant Re/Max, have donated $2 million to establish a scholarship fund for U.S. veterans attending Colorado State University.
More than 90 student-veterans applied for the scholarship in the first day the scholarship was offered, according to The Coloradoan.
The Linigers shepherded Re/Max to an initial public offering that netted the firm $225 million in October.
Dave Liniger, who served in Vietnam, was named the Denver Business Journal’s “Corporate Citizen of the Year” in 2012 for the $58 million he helped raise for charities by leveraging access to a private Denver-area golf course he and Gail built for fundraising purposes in 1997.
