Rental site Cozy has teamed up with credit info firm Experian to give prospective renters using its platform the ability to request and control access to their credit report when searching for a new rental.
The new Cozy feature precludes the need for renters to give property managers and landlords sensitive information like a Social Security number, Cozy CEO and co-founder Gino Zahnd told Inman News. Prospective renters pay $19.95 to allow each landlord or property manager to access their Experian-powered Cozy credit report.
With the new feature, Cozy wants to decouple the application itself from the act of running a credit report, and in the process lower or eliminate rental application fees, Zahnd said.
Cozy competitor Lovely rolled out a similar integration with Experian in November.
