Four people who claimed to be “sovereign citizens” immune from all governments are prison-bound after being convicted of breaking into vacant million-dollar homes in four Georgia counties, changing the locks, filing fake documents claiming squatters’ rights to the properties, and renting them out.
The alleged ringleader of the scam, Susan Lorraine Weidman, 52, was sentenced by a Cobb County judge to 20 years in prison and another 20 years on probation. Accomplice Matthew Lowery, 29, of Alpharetta, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Giulio Greye, 61, and his son, Ian Greye, 34, each received two-year sentences. Source: ajc.com.
