A Princeton University study predicting Facebook will lose 80 percent of users by 2017 has yet to be peer-reviewed and is “pretty much full of shit,” PandoDaily’s David Holmes concludes, noting that the study tries to apply infection and recovery models of disease epidemics to the Internet, using Myspace to test the theory.
“However, all that proves is that Myspace’s rise and fall manifested itself in recognizable patterns of epidemics,” Holmes writes. “That doesn’t necessarily mean Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn will follow the same track.” Source: pando.com.
