When Alison Kade wrote an article for MainStreet in August that outlined “the real reasons” many millennials “have given up the American dream of homeownership,” she was “amazed by the heated debate” it generated.
Now, hoping to provide further insight into changing attitudes about homeownership, and maybe rekindle that “heated debate,” Kade has penned another article, this time illuminating “the real reasons everyday Americans consider selling their homes and becoming renters by choice.”
The list is actually pretty ho-hum: cutting losses on a property that’s underwater; a change in living situation like a divorce; inability to trade up; a move to another community; unexpected medical bills; freedom to travel; and high maintenance costs. Source: mainstreet.com.
