According to Globes, Google X, Google’s secret development unit, is creating a cloud-based platform that could revolutionize the construction industry and potentially generate the Internet titan an estimated $120 billion a year, according to a report that engineers working on the project sent to Google’s management.

The report said that “Genie” would offer planning, simulation and analytics tools to help architects and engineers collaboratively design environmentally friendly buildings, Globes said.

Globes said that the platform could reportedly slash construction costs by 30 to 50 percent and speed up the construction planning process by 30 to 60 percent.
