Pham Dinh Nguyen traveled from Vietnam to purchase Buford, Wyo., a one-person “town,” that features a gas station and traveler’s store along Interstate Highway 80, at auction for $900,000.
Nguyen saw Buford listed for sale on the Internet and thought it was a good place to help market his coffee brand, PhinDeli. So he traveled to Buford for the auction and bought it. The seller, Don Sammons, bought the town for $155,000 in 1992, and has written a book he says will be available on Amazone.com next month: “Buford One: The True Story of How One Man Built a Town and Sold it to the World.”
