How do busy real estate agents grow an Instagram following? Listen in to hear this luxe broker’s top two favorite apps for posting and tracking data on the social media mammoth.

On this edition of “Keeping It Real,” a recurring series on Inman, Peter Lorimer talks through his top strategies for Instagram.

If you are in sales or real estate, a massive part of your industry has now shifted into social media (whether you like it or not). The best way to prospect and nurture your client base has shifted from emails and texts to social media.

Social media is your work. This needs to be an integral part of what you do on a daily basis.

If that’s the case, then how do real estate agents grow an Instagram following (with all of the other things on their plates)? Listen in to the podcast below for my two favorite apps that efficiently and effectively post and track data on Instagram.

2 apps for posting and tracking data on Instagram

  1. Iconosquare: I use Iconosquare primarily for Instagram to keep up with competition, Instagram Stories data and how hashtags are performing.
  2. Sprout Social: I find that Sprout Social is great for auto-posting across all channels, competition research and tracking data.

To learn more about how I track my client base on the platform itself, as well as content performance, listen in.

My tried-and-true method for tracking my client base is centered around the “Collections” feature inside Instagram. This feature allows me to categorize my ever-growing client base and list of prospects.

Instead of hunting through Instagram looking for all of my clients and looking for all the people I’m trying to work with (because it’s endless), I can easily access them via Collections.

When scrolling through Instagram, I save clients’ posts in their respective folders. Then, I spend time engaging with my client base by accessing Collections and commenting or liking my clients’ posts.

I also use “Insights” to track which content is working and which isn’t. In this feature, I access data on impressions, engagement and activity. I am then able to listen to my audience and work on creating content that is valuable and engaging.

At the end of the day, we need to be prospecting on social media. This is your work, and you should be carving out two or three hours a day to cultivate relationships digitally.

Listen to the full podcast as I go into even more detail on how I uses the apps and features in the platform itself to grow and nurture my Instagram following.
