Barbara Corcoran can’t read a financial report and thinks business plans are overrated, but has made her way in the world on smarts, determination and instinct, Fortune magazine reports in a profile of The Corcoran Group’s founder.
Corcoran says that when she decided to sell her New York City brokerage to NRT LLC, she was offered $20 million and counteroffered with $66 million. “Sixty-six is my lucky number,” she says. “We signed the contract on Friday night before 9/11 and closed two weeks later.” Source: money.cnn.com.
