After falling 35 percent during the housing downturn, median Realtor income bounced back for the second year in a row, rising 25 percent from 2011 to 2012, to $43,500, the National Association of Realtors reports.
After taxes and expenses, the median income of a sales agent was $22,900, while associate brokers brought home $28,700.
About two-thirds of Realtors (62 percent) with less than two years of experience said they made less than $10,000 a year after taxes and expenses, compared with 21 percent of those with 16 years or more of experience. Among those with at least 16 years’ experience, 15 percent said they cleared $100,000 or more, compared with 1 percent of Realtors with two years or less in the business. Source: realtor.org.
