A title insurer and escrow company based in Westlake Village, Calif. has agreed to pay $85,000 to settle allegations that it solicited and received title and escrow orders from national lenders and performed escrow services during 2010 and 2011 while not licensed to do so in California. Without admitting the allegations, Timios Inc. agreed to pay a $65,000 penalty and another $20,000 to reimburse the California Department of Insurance for the costs of its investigation.
