Reality TV hits real estate

Real estate will get a taste of reality television this summer when American Real Estate Idol debuts at Real Estate Connect in San Francisco.

American Real Estate Idol takes place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28. A dozen entrepreneurs will introduce their products before a live audience and be screened by a panel of real estate celebrity judges, which include Domania.com Founder Steve Kropper, CBS MarketWatch Editor Steve Kerch and Exit Realty International President Tami Bonnell.

Real Estate Connect this year features IAC/Interactive Corp. Chairman and CEO Barry Diller, whose high-profile entry into the online real estate category and 2003 purchase of LendingTree captured the attention of the entire real estate industry. Diller will deliver the keynote address at the conference on July 28.

Other speakers at this year’s conference include WMWorks Principal Richard Mendenhall, NY Times Digital CEO Martin Nisenholtz, HomeServices of America CEO Ron Peltier and LinkedIn CEO Reid Hoffman.

The conference also features two exhibit halls of the latest companies and technologies available in the real estate industry, as well as lively discussions of the hottest industry trends.
