Web tool enables consumers to map out next home purchase

Home buyers and sellers who visit Windermere.com now can search for home listings using a new tool that displays listings using map coordinates and visual landmarks, the company said today.

PropertyPoint enables home shoppers to “click and zoom” to identify listings in a favorite region, neighborhood or one single block. Users also can take a virtual drive through selected search areas and view homes that match their personal criteria on a map. This map can then be zoomed in and out to reveal identifiable landmarks, bodies of water and even parks and schools in close proximity to a particular home.

“Using Windermere’s PropertyPoint map search is like taking a virtual drive through the neighborhood,” Windermere VP of Technology Michael Rahmn said.

Visitors to Windermere’s Web site can begin a free home search by clicking a state on the site’s Western U.S. map or by selecting the “search for properties” tab. Once the a state has been selected, users are directed to a detailed search page that allows them to designate a specific geographic area on the map while identifying a number of specific search parameters such as listing price, property details, year built or view properties. From that point, home buyers can plot a course through selected areas while listings that match their search criteria are displayed in relation to street grids, landmarks, bodies of water and other visual icons.

PropertyPoint allows users to use save specific home searches and conduct regular, automatic scans for MLS listings with matching criteria. Clients and agents alike can save searches and have the results e-mailed to them directly as often as they choose.

Windermere Real Estate is a residential real estate network with nearly 6,000 associates and more than 220 offices serving neighborhoods in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
