Koll to build Citi Cards call centers

Koll Development Co., a commercial real estate firm, has executed leases with Citigroup to develop and lease three identical build-to-suit call centers simultaneously over the next 7 months for the Citi Cards division. The new call centers will be located in Louisville, Ky., Greensboro, N.C., and Boise, Idaho. Total square footage to be developed is 531,000.

The centers will serve 60 million credit-card customers worldwide.

“We will rely on our previous project experiences and success with fast-track developments for corporate clients to ensure that these facilities are up and running on time and within budget,” said Koll President Tobin C. Grove.

Construction has started on each of the three-story 177,000 square-foot call centers with completion scheduled for October 2004.  Clayco Construction Co. is the general contractor on all three of the projects and Forum Studios is the architect. Each center will house approximately 1,100 employees and will include such amenities as a data center, cafeteria and wellness center.

The facilities will incorporate approximately 80 percent raised flooring to allow flexibility for data cabling and all mechanical electrical and power functions. Back-up electric power, air conditioning and fiber optic capabilities will be incorporated into the development of each

facility.

Koll previously developed a 443,000 square-foot call center in Irving, Texas, that currently houses Citigroup credit-card operations.

Koll is headquartered in Dallas and has offices in Detroit, Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
