Ditech.com executive to speak at Real Estate Connect

Mike McCarthy will speak at Real Estate Connect July 28-30 in San Francisco.

Mike McCarthy, general manager of Ditech.com, just might be something of a homebody. He spent his last vacation at his own home, a Mediterranean ranch-style residence he purchased in 2000. His proudest personal accomplishment is his family, and his three children’s unfinished and due-the-next-day homework is his chief nighttime worry.

But McCarthy isn’t all family and no work. He has been an employee of General Motors for 21 years, and he was promoted to his current position as general manager of Ditech.com in May 2000. The Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company’s loan volume has grown from $3.7 billion to $22.2 billion in the four years since then, making Ditech one of GMAC’s most profitable divisions, according to the company.

McCarthy joined GM Insurance in 1983. He transferred to Chevrolet Motor Division as district service manager in 1988, and later was promoted to district sales manager. In 1993, he transferred to GMAC Mortgage as a retail loan originator. He was promoted to VP of marketing at GM Family Division in mid-1995 and to SVP at GM Family in 1999. In that position he developed a GM affinity program for sales, marketing and training.

McCarthy earned a master’s in business administration at Central Michigan University.
